Community First...The Platinum Difference
Homes for Hope
For over 13 years Brett Dillenberg and his team have helped thousands of
families get the keys to their new home but this time it was different. When
Brett handed over the keys to the young family it was a much more emotional
experience because this time he was a part of building the home from ground up.
After the holiday season Brett Dillenberg and his wife Karla, decided to
take the kids to Mexico in conjunction with YPO, which
Brett is a member of, to build homes for less fortunate families.
"We thought it would be a great family experience especially right after
Christmas so that the impact would even be greater. The experience was
absolutely amazing. It was great that we could do this as a family and watching my
wife and kids help wherever they could and actually make a difference and truly
help build a new home has truly left an impact in my life. My kids played
with the families and the local neighborhood children and did everything from
paint to hammering shingles on the roof." Comments Brett Dillenberg
Once the home was built Brett had the honor of blessing it for the family. "
It was an experience I will never forget. To look into the eyes of the
mother and father as well as their two daughters and how in awe they were to think
that they would actually have a roof over their heads was amazing. I think
everybody was crying as it was a very emotional experience. There were about
21 people who worked on that house and only 10 or so were actually adults. I
truly believe kids understand and we have to expose them to the struggle of
others so they can appreciate the life they live. They will remember building
that home more than any toy at Christmas.
As my daughter summed it up beautifully the next morning as we were driving
back to our home and it started to rain and she looked at us and said "Isn't
is great that now our family in Mexico will actually be dry when it rain
because they now have a home with a roof."
Brett and Karla plan on taking the kids to South Africa for their next
family trip where they will be involved in helping families there. The Dillenberg
family is also involved with or supports The Make a Wish, Chase Foundation,
PS I Love You Foundation, MB Chamber of Commerce, Lunada Bay Little League,
Sandpipers of Manhattan Beach, American Red Cross. After Katrina Brett, his
family and the entire Platinum Capital Group team raised money for Victims."I have been truly blessed, continues Brett, if we can't give money we can
give our time, knowledge, expertise and our understanding. Sometimes it just
takes a little bit to get someone over that hump so they can have a more
secure environment for their family."
